Role & Responsibilities
- Maintenance of various marketing systems including the global experience database (Epic), proposals and contacts databases
- New business proposals – Preparation of pitches, presentations and credentials statements from start to finish for the product areas (often to very tight deadlines).
- Pitch analysis and reporting Capturing and maintaining ‘did you knows’ and proof points for pitches
- Maintain library of case studies for inclusion in pitches
- Monitor, research and analysis of client or market developments
- Client development opportunities and coordination – Identification, planning and support of relevant networking and sponsorship opportunities for partners and associates.
- Communications – Initiate, write and prepare external and internal communications to ensure the firm is profiled such as intranet, online/digital, e-publications, brochures, directory submissions and award submissions. This includes sharing best practice and success stories across the network and BD community.
- Liaising with the creative services team to design marketing communications materials (brochures, clients facing materials, flyers …)
- Integrated marketing and business development campaigns – Implementation of marketing/business development actions, PR, marketing initiatives and campaigns including support for the development and implementation of new product offerings alongside the partners and broader team.
- Cross-office coordination – Assist in driving cooperation and interaction across Africa group to ensure a cohesive and coordinated service offering and to ensure close working relationships between partners, associates and clients. Aim to ‘connect the dots’ within the product groups and cross A&O network globally
- Clients contact management and communications – Management of topical publications and event lists – working with PAs to ensure that contacts are up to date including EPiC (our BD database tool) and guiding them on these BD tools.
- Ad-hoc projects – Lead local, firmwide or practice area projects as required
Role requirements
- University’degree in either marketing, communication or journalism, a university law degree is a plus
- Previous professional services experience would be an advantage, preferrably 2 to 4 years experience in business development or marketing within a legal environment
- Excellent French and English language skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent drafting skills
- Research skills would be advantageous
- Advanced Excel, powerpoint and Word skills
- Strong commercial awareness and enthusiasm to deepen understanding of the client base and products
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with all levels
- Creates energy within the group, is highly visible and encourages and challenges lawyers
- Tenacious and a can do & hands on approach – driven by delivery and end results
- Strong organisational skills – able to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities while managing expectations
- Able to work as a team player as well as independently
- Ability to work under pressure and deadline driven with minimal supervision

- 20 % coordination and implementation of marketing / campaign initiatives
