The HMD Global North Africa team is looking for a Retail Manager who will drive best in class Retail practices to ensure a consistent and best in class shopper experience apart from effective retail channel management across geographies.
Role purpose:
To manage channel & retail operations in the Area to support the overall business strategy focusing specifically on distribution and retail execution.
Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for driving Nokia mobile phones sellouts and activations by efficient utilization of retail investments and developing and implementing the right distribution and channel approach for each market to support the overall strategy.
Retail execution will cover:
- Planning investments in retail operations for each country to align with the focus areas of offering a great in-store shopping experience as well as driving higher conversion rate at retail.
- Ensuring effective utilization of retail sales support elements like promoters and field force teams.
- Driving efficiencies in retail operations by using Mystery audits & Switch selling framework.
- Driving the Sales Capability agenda to assess competency of retail teams (promoters, field force) and to ensure delivery of relevant training inputs as per agreed cadence.
- Working with the Area / Region teams for regular review cadence and for execution of new initiatives to improve retail experience and conversion
- Driving the different retail engagement programs with the field force teams.
- Managing field team agencies across markets.
Distribution / channel development will include:
- Analyzing individual market structures and assessing various options of improving distribution footprint of Nokia phones in the relevant channels
- Work with the Area teams to develop the structure, KPIs and ways of working for the distributor teams so as to support the ideal distribution footprint plan
- Execute direct retail coverage plans and ensure regular review cadence to track progress against milestones and implement course correction if required
Effective TCO management will involve:
- Optimization of below-the-line investments in retail to support the overall sales strategy of sustaining focus on Nokia phones in the relevant outlets and channels.
- Planning and implementation of advocacy programs like ‘Champions’ store staff incentives to drive focus on Nokia phones in relevant non-promoter outlets.
- Planning support for live devices in retail to ensure presence across critical channels / outlets with the relevant models
- Assessment of pricing constructs in each market and working with the local teams to implement changes to sustain competitiveness
- Implementation of internal systems to ensure planning, approval and timely rollout of all initiatives
- Putting in place the necessary review cadence to assess effectiveness of retail incentives which can be used as planning inputs for subsequent periods
Background/Qualifications:
- University degree.
- Experience in Retail & Customer Marketing in North Africa markets – oyu are highly likely to have a background in mobile telecommunications
- Excellent process and project management skills to manage the planning and execution of the retail marketing programs.
- Broad understanding of mobile communication, experiences & solutions business, as well as operator business. Knowledge about key customers and competitors.
- The candidate is expected to be able to travel throughout the Area / country.
- Needs to have the attitude and willingness to work in the field with the distributor and the sales support teams.
- The candidate is expected to be a balance between planning and on ground execution through the distribution and sales support teams.
