Your Responsibilities
Job purpose
- Be the medical expert and assume responsibility of medical & clinical aspects in the assigned TA
- Provide high caliber medical support to the business and lead Key External Experts’ (KEE) development programs.
- Be externally focused strategic partner to the business and communicate scientific information to HCPs (without reliance on external paid speakers) that both informs and builds confidence in the appropriate use of GSK medicines
- Support & partner with the LOC marketing, sales, market access & regulatory departments in the scientific and medical issues with the aim to achieve the company’s objectives.
- Foster the ethical and scientific image of GlaxoSmithKline as a leading pharmaceutical company.
Main Responsibilities
General
- Demonstrate leadership & provide guidance for GSK in TAs from a scientific perspective.
- Participate in the LOC matrix teams to ensure that all relevant planning factors and impacts are assessed in development, pre-launch, launch and life cycle management strategies within the scope of therapy area(s) responsibility.
- Prepare the Medical Plans for TA
- Build good trustful relationship with MOH officials & KEEs for GSK therapeutic areas.
- Help regulatory in achieving timely registration.
Medical Affairs
- Greater Product/Scientific expertise to support credible external interactions
- All relevant information on the TA products – ongoing commitments, issues, schedules.
- All relevant clinical & regulatory guidelines. At least the significant difference that we can use as an advantage or give the appropriate feedback to the team.
- All relevant therapeutic guidelines, consensus statements etc. Have the key contact to get the information.
- Key publications related to the TA products, competitors/disease area.
- Demonstrate leadership & provide guidance for the assigned TA from a scientific perspective.
- Develop and implement scientific and clinical development content to achieve strategic goals.
- Attend relevant local & international congresses & symposia and provide feedback to key/internal colleagues.
- Foster the ethical & scientific image of GlaxoSmithKline as a leading pharmaceutical company.
- Develop, manage and implement the local Medical Affairs Action Plan for the assigned TA.
- Provide scientific support and medical input into the local commercial strategy. This includes, for example, preparing and organizing scientific communications, CMEs, presentations and manuscripts, reviewing promotional and educational material and networking with local external experts and stakeholders.
- Provides support to Market Access, Pricing & Reimbursement strategies. This includes, for example, driving Health Outcomes and Epidemiological studies & models and presenting to local regulatory, pricing and reimbursement bodies.
- Supports key pre-launch activities in alignment with scientific engagement.
- Provides scientific and medical support for successful commercial introduction of new products for assigned TA through direct collaboration with the Regulatory, Marketing & Sales departments.
- Develop/review material training for product launch.
Medical Information
- Implement a full medical/scientific library (print & electronic) & continually update the same. Establish a database of product profiles/information, produce company’s (and competitor) publication database and compile expert and patient brochures.
- Screen new medical and scientific literature for relevant information and articles on a regular basis with the view to provide updated information about relevant therapeutic areas as well as competitor product intelligence.
- Answer medical scientific inquiries from customers & field force, evaluation of scientific literature, support sales force with scientific argumentation for GSK marketed products.
- Answer medical information requests regarding GSK products from HCPs by utilizing the GSK Corporate Medical Information Request Process and Procedure.
KEEs Interactions & Development
- Robust capability development & training with an initial focus on Product/Scientific knowledge and presentation /engagement skills for customer-facing Medical roles.
- Focus capabilities to become a more externally focused strategic partner to the business – bringing customer & patient insights; translating evidence into meaningful information using new or enhanced multichannel platforms; and communicating scientific information to HCPs (without reliance on external paid speakers) that both informs and builds confidence in the appropriate use of GSK medicines and vaccines.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders as well as matrix bodies, to ensure provision of clinical & medical affairs activities to support internal decision making during product development, commercialization and life cycle management within the scope of the assigned Therapy Area(s).
- Interaction with Health Authorities to support & accelerate registration process and hence faster market penetration within the scope of therapy area(s) responsibility
- Organize, run and ensure follow-up of local advisory board meetings in line with the local business strategic goals and scientific engagement.
Scientific Engagement Activities
- Support key pre-launch & launch activities in the assigned Therapy Area(s) (training, lectures, round table discussions…etc.)
- Lecturing at locally/regionally organized scientific congresses on strategic products within the scope of therapy area(s) responsibility
Clinical Operations
- Engage GSK in epidemiology studies to generate local data that would support faster market penetration of strategic products. Also, identify gaps that need Key Evidence Generation studies as effectiveness studies, health outcome studies and health economic studies.
- Plan and manage Phase IIIb/IV clinical trials, Collaborative Research Trials (ISS) & Observational studies in accordance with GCP guidelines & company relevant SOPs.
- Identify opportunities to engage GSK in R&D studies within the scope of therapy area responsibility
- Provide company with relevant clinical data in line with the company’s scientific & commercial objectives, within guidelines of Good Clinical Practice, local laws & regulations.
Medical Governance
- Review and approve promotional materials/activities in accordance with local SOPs
- Review and approve promotion & Customer Interaction Code with final sign-off/certification by CMD.
- Review & approve labeling of locally marketed products to ensure it reflects the latest safety data.
Pharmacovigilance
- Ensure implementation of high standard Pharmacovigilance function and compliant safety reporting.
- Manage PV responsibility in accordance with GSK requirements and local regulations.
- Coordinate local Pharmacovigilance activities with PRP and NSC in compliance with GSK procedures and local regulations.
Training
- Medical/product background training for the field force.
COMPLEXITY
- Able to work with cross functional teams.
- Work with different external stakeholders, diversified sets of skills, knowledge and experience.
- Able to budget for the therapy area medical plans/activities and control it.
- Able to influence professional audiences with his/her strong presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ensure that all collaborators in his/her fields of responsibilities strictly adhere to GCP, the Code of Pharmaceutical Practices, GSK Policies and SOPs , scientific engagement and also, to local regulations and legal requirements.
- Able to travel inside country
Why You?
Basic qualifications
- Medical doctor qualification is mandatory
- Minimum of 3 years experience in pharmaceutical industry medical department is recommended
- Broad range of experiences, working in pharmaceutical industry, managed care, academic institutions, hospital setting, or healthcare consulting environment.
- Experience in special therapy areas in the Pharma industry is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skill, with high ability to convey messages and interact successfully with all internal & external stakeholders.
- Business focus, decision making skills, developing others, group leadership, collaboration and partnership skills with ability to influence others, project management, strategic thinking, teamwork within matrix environment. Problem solving skills. Multitasking and prioritization with focus on the project, negotiation & time management skills. Logical and scientific thinker
- Professional English fluency is mandatory
